Welcome

The Gipsy Lane East Residents Association, or GLERA as we are now commonly known, was formed several years ago in 2005 to give ‘a collective identity and voice of reason’ to planning discussions when an intensive development project was proposed for a large tract of ground adjacent to the gardens of all the houses on the street.

The collective voice had a very positive impact upon the eventual development of the site but additionally, it became clear that many of the residents hoped the group could have a function beyond that.

Consequently when the need for this formal body has diminished the association remained as a closely knit group of individuals who have diverse backgrounds and interests. It can be seen as a friendly village within the city.

Social events are organised by the committee and the high attendance at these events is a clear indication of their popularity and of the unity that exists between residents.
